Catbird privacy
Catbird records and transcribes on your iPhone. This page says exactly what that means.
What stays on your iPhone. Recording, transcription, telling speakers apart, naming them, and summaries all happen on your iPhone. Your audio, transcripts, voiceprints and names are stored there.
What leaves your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded. Catbird has no account and no server, and Gromenda never receives your recordings, transcripts, voiceprints or names. The one time Catbird uses the network is to download its speech models the first time you record. That is an ordinary download from Hugging Face: like any web request, their server sees your internet address, and nothing else from Catbird. After that, Catbird never needs the network.
Voiceprints. A voiceprint is a set of numbers Catbird uses to recognize a voice. It is not a recording. Catbird makes one when you enroll your own voice, or when you confirm a name for a speaker. Voiceprints stay on your iPhone. Your own voiceprint leaves only if you share your Catbird card, and a card holds only your name and voiceprint. Other people’s voiceprints never leave your iPhone. Forget a person in People and their voiceprint is deleted.
Sharing happens only when you choose it. Export, sharing a card by AirDrop, Add to Calendar and choosing a contact each happen only when you tap them, through Apple’s own share sheet, event editor and contact picker. Catbird never reads your whole address book or calendar.
How long things are kept. Audio is kept for 7 days, then deleted. Transcripts stay until you delete them.
Backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Catbird’s data is included in that backup like any other app’s, under your own Apple Account and backup settings. Catbird itself never sends it anywhere.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Catbird has no advertising and no analytics, and does not track you.
Deleting. Delete a session in Catbird and it’s gone from your iPhone. Delete the app and everything Catbird stored on your iPhone is deleted with it.
